Abstract:【Objective】 To compare the efficacy and safety of 120 W versus 70 W thulium laser resection of the prostate-tangerine technique (TmLRP-TT) for treatment of patients with symptomatic benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). 【Methods】 81 patients of symptomatic BPH were randomized into 120W(n=41) and 70 W(n=40) TmLRP-TT groups. Data of peri- and postoperative parameters and complications were compared. 【Results】 120 W TmLRP-TT was significantly superior to 70 W device in terms of operation time[(32.90 ± 10.68) min vs (62.55 ± 23.66 min, P <0.001) ]and irrigation solution volume[(18.34 ± 6.68 L) vs (30.78 ± 10.01 L, P =0.000)]. Patients of both groups resulted in significant improvements in lower urinary tract symptoms, but there is no significant difference in therapeutic effect and complications between two groups. 【Conclusion】 70 W and 120 W TmLRP-TT were both efficient and safe for treating symptomatic BPH; moreover, the 120 W TmLRP-TT offered significantly higher vaporesection rates, less volume of intra-operative irrigation solution and shorter operation time than the 70 W device.
