【Objective】 To evaluate the clinical effect of transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) patients with detrusor areflexia and bladder outlet obstruction (BOO). 【Methods】 The clinical data of 23 BPH patients who were diagnosed as detrusor areflexia were retrospectively analyzed. All the patients accepted TURP surgery. The preoperative and 12 months postoperative clinical index including international prostate symptom score (IPSS), free urinary flow rate (Qmax) and residual urine volume (PVR) of the patients were recorded and statistically analyzed. 【Results】 Compared with the preoperative clinic index, the IPSS, Qmax and PVR of the patients were significantly improved 12 months after TURP surgery. 【Conclusion】 TURP surgery is effective for BPH patients with detrusor areflexia.
