Abstract:Objective To assess the accuracy of endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) in the diagnosis of TN staging of gastric cancer.Methods A detailed search was executed in PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI, WanFang and VIP databases (up to April 2020). A meta analysis was carried out by Meta-Disc 1.4.Results 28 studies involving 3 130 patients with gastric cancer were included. Pooled sensitivity of EUS to diagnose TN staging were T1 0.81 (95%CI: 0.79 ~ 0.84), T2 0.68 (95%CI: 0.65 ~ 0.71), T3 0.80 (95%CI: 0.78 ~ 0.82), T4 0.72 (95%CI: 0.68 ~ 0.77), N0 0.81 (95%CI: 0.79 ~ 0.83), N1 0.60 (95%CI: 0.57 ~ 0.63), N2 0.49 (95%CI: 0.46 ~ 0.52); Pooled specificity of EUS to diagnose TN staging were T1 0.96 (95%CI: 0.96 ~ 0.97), T2 0.88 (0.87 ~ 0.89), T3 0.86 (95%CI: 0.84 ~ 0.87), T4 0.97 (95%CI: 0.94 ~ 0.97), N0 0.79 (95%CI: 0.77 ~ 0.80), N1 0.77 (95%CI: 0.76 ~ 0.79), N2 0.92 (95%CI: 0.90~0.93); Area under SROC curve (AUC) were T1 0.97, T2 0.89, T3 0.90, T4 0.95, N0 0.90, N1 0.78, N2 0.85.Conclusion Endoscopic ultrasonography with high accuracy in the diagnosis of TN staging of gastric cancer can be applied in the preoperative diagnosis and staging of gastric cancer and provide guidance in clinical practice.
