Abstract:Abstract: Objective? To evaluate the clinical therapeutic effect and safety of incision and drainage under endoscope in patients with rectal submucosal abscess.?Methods?Patients underwent endoscope-assisted incision and drainage for rectal submucosal abscess from January 2013 to December 2018 were included in the research. Patients’ clinical data was retrospectively collected and analyzed to evaluate therapeutic and clinical complications.?Results?70 patients with rectal submucosal abscess were included in this research, all of them underwent endoscopic incision and drainage successfully. The mean operation time was (15.0 ± 5.2) min. Drainage tubes were put for 24 patients with massive abscess cavity and drainage strips was used for 46 patients with smaller cavity. The tubes or strips were removed in 3 days postoperation. All the 70 patients were discharged with no morbidity or operation-related mortality. In the follow-up of 12m postoperation, 16 patients underwent curative operation for post-operation anal fistula, 54 patients did not have recurrence.?Conclusion?Incision and drainage under endoscope is a safe and effective minimal invasive therapy for rectal submucosal abscess in experienced endoscopic centers.
