Abstract: Objective To explore the method of bowel preparation for colonoscopy in patients with chronic diarrhea. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 119 patients with chronic diarrhea who underwent colonoscopy from March 2017 to March 2018. 37 patients (group A) received oral compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder (PGEP) 139.12 g (2 000 ml) at 4 hours before the examination; 42 patients (group B) oral PGEP 208.68g (3 000 ml) at 4 hours before examination; Another 40 patients (group C) taking PGEP 104.34 g (1 500 ml) at 4 hours before the examination, 50.00% magnesium sulfate (MgSO4) 50 ml orally at 2 hours before the examination, and then drinking warm water 500ml to the excretion fluid Like water samples. Boston Bowel Preparation Scale scores (BBPS) and bubbles in bowel lumen score were assessed. The effectiveness, tolerability and safety of intestinal preparation in three groups were compared. Results The colonoscopy time in group C was significantly shorter than that in group A and B; The total score of BBPS in group C was significantly higher than that in group A and group B; The bubbles in bowel lumen score in group C was significantly lower than that in group A and group B; The intestinal acceptance rate and re-intestinal acceptance rate in group C was significantly higher than group A and group B; The overall adverse reaction scores in group C was significantly lower than that in group A and group B; The difference was statistically significant (P ﹤ 0.05). Conclusion It is good effect of PGEP combined MgSO4 on bowel preparation before colonoscopy in patients with chronic diarrhea.
