Abstract:Abstract: Objective To evaluate the efficacy of Gabapentin in reducing pain intensity and postoperative nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy through a system review and meta-analysis. Methods All the randomized controlled trials (RCTs) about evaluating the efficacy of Gabapentin in reducing pain intensity and postoperative nausea and vomiting after laparoscopic cholecystectomy were searched on the database of Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, CBM, VIP, Wanfang data and CNKI. The cut-off time of search is February, 2018. Outcomes including VAS at 12 h and 24 h, total morphine consumption and the occurrence of postoperative nausea and vomiting. Quantitative data was expressed as weighted mean difference (WMD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) and count data was expressed as relative risk (RR) and 95%CI. Software Stata 12.0 was used for meta-analysis. Results A total of nine literatures involving 966 patients were identified. The number of Gabapentin and controls was 484 and 482 respectively. Compared with control group, Gabapentin was associated with less VAS at 12 h and 24, less total morphine consumption and the occurrence of nausea and vomiting (P < 0.05). Conclusion Compared with the controls, Gabapentin has better pain control effects and can decrease the occurrence of PONV.
