Abstract:【Objective】 To analyze the curative effect to meniscal peripheral cyst treated by the modified suture method combined with arthroscopic. 【Methods】 18 cases of meniscus peripheral cyst were treated by partial resection or suture meniscus rupture in the joint through arthroscopy. The cyst wall was removed outside of joint, and using modified suture to repairing margin. The function scores of preoperative and the ones of after operation were compared by the range of motion (ROM) of knee and Lysholm score. 【Results】 All the incision were primary healing after surgery, no early complications of wound infection, no injury of nerve or blood vessel. After operation, 18 cases were followed up, followed up for 12~24 months, average 12.5 months. The cysts were no recurrence during follow-up, patients with preoperative symptoms disappeared or reduced significantly, the activity of joint were returned to normal. The sum of ROM of knee was (113.7 ± 17.6)° preoperatively, being increased to (139.1 ± 9.6)° postoperatively. Preoperative Lysholm score was (68.3 ± 23.2), being increased to (97.3 ± 22.1) postoperatively. The differences were significant by the analysis of t test (P < 0.01). 【Conclusions】 The course of treatment of meniscal peripheral cyst by the modified suture method combined with arthroscopic is simple and convenient. Symptoms is alleviated obviously and no recurrence. All in all we can obtain the exact clinical efficacy through this method.
